This Book is One I Will Long Remember

I cannot say enough good things about this amazing book. I read the book, listened to an audio book so I could hear the accents, and then I saw the movie. All three had special qualities, but the book was just one of the best I have read in years.

Don't Gossip!

Don’t spread gossip. Be the kind of friend that can be trusted. Do not repeat confidential information that your friends tell you unless that information revels that your friend is a danger to himself/herself or others. In that case, tell your parents at once.

Use the Active Voice

Use verbs in the active voice. The passive voice is weak and uses unnecessary words. “A captain has been appointed by the team” is weaker than “The team has appointed a captain.” Sentences with verbs in the passive voice often contain a prepositional phrase that begins with the preposition “by.”

If you need help with using the active voice, Step 2  in Simple Steps to Sentence Sense is all about finding the verb and using it correctly.
